RICEBALLS is a heartwarming story about love, pride, and resilience.
Since the passing of his Australian wife, Kenji has been doing his best to bring up his only son, Josh. While he is in two minds whether to move back to Japan with Josh, Kenji starts making clumsy Japanese riceballs for his son, with the hope that he will remain connected to his cultural heritage. Eventually, those riceballs strengthen their bond and help them overcome the pain of losing their loved one.
This film depicts a father’s hope and the challenges he faces whilst passing down traditions to his son, who is growing up between two cultures. This is a ubiquitous theme, and we are certain this story will connect with many people regardless of their cultural background. This film was completed in late October 2015 and submitted to many film festivals worldwide.
In April 2016, RICEBALLS premiered at the TIFF Kids International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. Since then, it has been accepted for many international film festivals, including the Asian American International Film Festival (New York), the DC Shorts Film Festival (Washington, DC), the Milwaukee Film Festival (Wisconsin), and the BALINALE Bali International Film Festival (Indonesia). The audience has given it fantastic reviews.

二つの文化の狭間で育つ我が子に、なんとか母国の文化を伝えたいという親の願いや葛藤は、日本人のみならず、世界各地の多くの人々が共感するテーマだと、我々は確信しています。この作品は2015年10月末に完成し、現在、世界各地の映画祭での上映に向けて全力を尽くしています。
このRICEBALLSは2016年4月にカナダのトロントで行われたTIFF Kids International Film Festivalでワールドプレミアを果たし、その後もアジアンアメリカン国際映画祭（ニューヨーク）、DC Shorts 映画祭（ワシントンDC）、ミルウォーキー映画祭（ウィスコンシン州）、BALINALE バリ国際映画祭（インドネシア）など世界各地の国際映画祭で正式上映され、高い評価を受けました。
